Itchy

So pregnancy has been bliss for me thus far, I have been very fortunate and really can't complain much!  I did have a pretty bad back ache consistently for a while but we switched mattresses to a firmer one and it did the trick!  But about a month ago, or a little over now, I started itching.  It was while I was in Boston and after all the talk of east coast bed bugs, I thought for SURE it was bed bugs living in my skin.  Well thankfully, it is not bed bugs, but unfortunately I'm super itchy still and it's gotten worse and worse.  I went to my doctors appointment last week and the doc said I may have developed an allergy to laundry detergent in pregnancy.  So I bought "Dreft" and washed pretty much everything I own, clothes, sheets, towels included and the doc told me I could take Benedryl at night to help me sleep (itching was waking me up and keeping me up).  It's been a few days, jury is still out on whether it's getting better or not, but the Benedryl is definitely helping me sleep so I'm thankful for that.  It truly is like having the chicken pox the second time around, not fun at all.

On another note, Jeff and I got our baby furniture!  We are so excited and keep going into the baby's room in awe dreaming of our little one sleeping in the new crib.  Rupert loves going into the baby's room and looks in the crib.  I think he's waiting for that baby to be in there too :)

We have been taking baby classes, preparing us for childbirth which is very helpful, especially for Jeff to know what to expect as my "doula."  :)  He is excited to be my head coach and cheerleader and I know he'll do a great job!  We also went to a class to learn about caring for baby when he/she comes, so Jeff got to learn how to swaddle and diaper and bathe a doll which he did with excellence and pride :)  I think he's ready.  We both are.  I am 29 weeks now which is a huge accomplishment, but it also feels very far away from January 23rd.  I'm starting to feel like a kid counting down the days til Christmas.  Speaking of Christmas, I am really ready for some cooler weather to start coming in...as much as I love the sun and warmth, I have this little live-in space heater that is making me sweat more than normal and I would love to cool off with some snow and cooler air!

We are starting our next class this Wednesday and it's through our dog trainer, teaching you how to introduce dog to baby.  We are looking forward to it, I think it will be really helpful with the transition for Rupert, we want to make it as smooth for him as possible, although I think he's going to take it like a champ!  He has always loved our friends' babies and he knows to be gentile, so that's a good sign.  Still, we want to be prepared and help him have an easy time with having a little crying babe in the house all of a sudden.

I have been keeping track of my pregnancy on a couple of websites that follow week to week what should be happening and what size your baby might be.  It's been really fun, I feel like I have learned so much!  This week the baby is 3 pounds and 17 inches long.  Amazing, isn't it?  It also said I may start to feel the baby having hiccups, and sure enough, the same day that I read that, I felt the hiccups for the first time.  It was so sweet, little rhythmic bumps that are no doubt hiccups, although I have to say I feel bad for the baby because I get terrible hiccups and they give me a stomach ache...so baby Hagberg, I hope your hiccups are easier on you!

I guess that's all for now!

Arleigh :)
