Birthdays and baby furniture!

Well Jeff and I have had a whirlwind of birthday celebrations lately and we have one more to go!  It all started with my actual birthday, we had the most amazing meal at my parents house!  We had Salmon, skewered red potatoes, salad, and yummy yellow cake with chocolate frosting :)  It was so fun to celebrate with my folks.

The next day we celebrated with friends, Jeff threw a birthday party for me at our house and we had fun using our porch!  We redid the porch this summer and we love to hang out there and to entertain there.

Then we went to Chicago that weekend and celebrated my birthday and Jeff's birthday at Gene and Georgetti's with Jeff's parents.  We had a great steak dinner and my favorite, Shrimp cocktail!  That was the best shrimp cocktail I have ever had.

Jeff's birthday was yesterday and we got together with Jeff's mom (his dad was out of town on business) and went to dinner at Granite City Brewery.  Then we went shopping for a coat for me (I know, on HIS birthday!!) and a baby gate for the cabin (for Rupert and the the baby on the way!)  We had a lot of fun with Michele :)  She even gave us a little cake to celebrate when we got home!

I got Jeff a new robe and some other fun things :)  Today we made chicken and waffles to celebrate his b-day again!  He has always wanted to try that, but it's sort of a southern thing, so we just made waffles and got KFC chicken and made our own version.  It was good, but I'm pretty sure he still wants to try the actual southern dish sometime!

Tomorrow the birthday celebrations come to an end when we celebrate Jeff's birthday with my parents.  Should be fun!

We are starting to research baby furniture and are realizing some things might take weeks or months to order...and January is starting to get closer!  I just got the book Baby Bargains ("as seen on Oprah") so hopefully they'll give us some good tips on how to pick things out and what to look for, because the baby world is like a foreign world to us at this point.  We are starting to learn, but have a long ways to go!

That's all for now, have a great day!

love
Arleigh

Trying to blog...

Well this is my first blog! It's only taken me about a year to write...yikes! I don't promise anything profound, but I have noticed over the years that I have not been blessed with a wonderful memory, so I want to use this blog to help me record my (our) memories and also keep friends and family up to date on what's happening with the Hagbergs! I always love reading other people's blogs so hopefully someone will enjoy reading ours too :)

I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with our first babe, I feel like it's going pretty quickly but at the same time, January feels very far away from now! I have had an easy pregnancy so far for the most part, I can't complain.

We told everyone we were pregnant by dressing Rupert up in a "Big Brother" t-shirt. It was a lot of fun!

The first trimester I was a little crampy at the very beginning, and exhausted throughout pretty much the whole trimester. I couldn't do much besides film on the days I needed to. I had to come home and crash after that, and that first trimester I needed to film a lot! I did a couple projects for Harvest Evangelism and a big project for Linda Linder that ended up keeping me busy all summer.

I'm in my second trimester now and feeling more energetic, but definitely don't have tons of energy. I'm hungrier all of a sudden, I have even had to wake up in the middle of the night to eat an apple because I have been ridiculously hungry! The baby also seems to notice when I'm eating, he/she moves a TON when I put a bite in my mouth!

I started really showing at 18 weeks, I literally feel like I popped out of nowhere! I have had friends tell me the same thing happened to them, but I couldn't believe when it happened like that!

Jeff and I had a big debate over whether or not to find out the gender of the baby. It was a tough call because Jeff wanted to know and I wanted to have the surprise, at least for our first one. Not surprising, considering Jeff is not big on surprises, even for Christmas or birthdays and I LOVE surprises! Well, a week before our ultrasound, I had to make a decision (Jeff left it up to me) so I decided that since Jeff does a TON for me all the time, this is the least I could do a gift I could give him because I knew it meant a lot to him. So I made this "coupon" good for two tickets to a movie preview of Baby Hagberg and hinted we would be finding out the gender. I was thrilled to give it to him because at this point I had made up my mind and knew he would be excited, and I was starting to get used to the idea and get excited myself! He read it, put it down, and gave me a big hug and said, "I don't want to find out anymore." He wanted me to have the surprise I wanted and had made up his mind about the whole thing. It was really fun that we each wanted to give that gift to each other. I love him so much :)

We had our 20 week ultrasound on my birthday, September 8th. You are supposed to have a full bladder when you go, so the ultrasound technician pushes on you the whole time while you have to go to the bathroom! Not easy. But fun to see our baby on the screen! She couldn't get all the images she needed and unfortunately I had a bad back spasm (never had that before!) at the end so she stopped the ultrasound and we are scheduled for another one at our next appointment. It will be fun to see the little one again!

I haven't figured this blogging thing out yet, so I better stop there and write a new blog to continue :) Tah tah for now!

love,
Arleigh
